How It Works
Need Press? Indie Promoter can connect you to hundreds of publications across the world that review Independent music.
Indie promoter is a submission service that sends an email query letter to hundreds of genre specific publications on your behalf to be considered for a feature article or review. The Following is a step by step breakdown of how Indie promoter works.
1. Once you have purchased Indie Promoter your publicity campaign will begin. You will be assigned a publicity agent who will contact you within 24 hours. Your agent will be in direct contact with you via email throughout the campaign, a “real person” who will be happy to answer questions and guide you through the process.
2. You will be asked to answer a few questions about your music so that we can tailor your campaign to be genre specific.
3. We will then provide you with several examples of professional query letters. Using these examples as your template, you will be instructed on how to write the first draft of your query letter. Once you have done so, email your draft to us. We will then review and edit it. Once we are both happy with the query letter and you approve the final draft, we will submit your letter via email to hundreds of publications that review independent music. All emails will be sent via a dedicated mail server under your name and address. If you do not want to write your query letter we offer a query writing service as well.
4. Generating interest is only the first step. You will need to provide interested publications with material to review, also known as a press kit (CD, bio, press clippings, etc). In your query letter you can either offer to send a hard-copy press kit or a digital press kit. If you do not have either of these, a web site or even a Myspace page will also work. If you are unsure about what to do, that’s okay. We will guide you through this step.
5. You will then receive conformation that your query letter has been submitted along with a list of all the publications that your letter was sent to.
5. Within 1 – 2 days, sometimes even hours, you should start to receive feedback from music editors and journalists. You are then advised to promptly follow up with all interested parties, sending any material to those who request it, answering questions, etc.
As we all know, music is subjective and as such results will vary. That being said, we feel that Indie Promoter is a tremendous value for the price. We will be available each step of the way to answer questions and guide you through the process. We are musicians too so we know what you are up against. Let us know how we can help.
